Product Description

Chevron Conveyor Belt Pattern Design

A chevron conveyor belt features V-shaped cleats molded onto the top cover surface, designed to increase friction and contain material on inclined conveyors. The cleats are vulcanized integrally with the belt body, forming a single continuous structure that resists separation under load. The chevron pattern runs across the belt width, forming troughs that hold bulk material in place during upward or downward transport.

Cleat height, spacing, and angle are selected based on the material characteristics and conveyor incline. Lower profiles suit finer materials and moderate angles, while taller cleats handle larger lumps and steeper inclines. The base belt beneath the pattern uses a multi-ply fabric carcass — available in cotton, nylon, or polyester-nylon constructions — providing the tensile strength for load carrying.

Incline Conveying Performance & Material Suitability

Chevron belts enable inclined conveying at steeper angles than flat belts. The cleats create material retention pockets that prevent backsliding of bulk solids. Maximum effective incline angle depends on cleat height, material particle size, and material flow properties. Finer, more cohesive materials generally achieve steeper angles than large, free-flowing lumps.

Material types handled by chevron belts include grains, seeds, aggregates, coal, ore, cement clinker, and recycled materials. The belt surface pattern reduces spillage at transfer points and maintains material alignment along the conveyor path. Cleat spacing is optimized to balance load capacity with discharge cleanability.

Industrial Applications of Chevron Belts

Chevron conveyor belts are deployed across multiple industries where inclined transport is required. In mining and quarrying, they move crushed ore and aggregates up inclines from pit floors to processing plants. Construction sites use them to convey sand, gravel, and ready-mix ingredients at elevated angles.

Agricultural facilities install chevron belts for grain handling, seed processing, and feed milling operations. Recycling plants rely on them to elevate sorted materials such as plastic flakes, paper, and metal scrap. Additional applications include cement plants, fertilizer terminals, and biomass power stations. Each application requires matching cleat height, belt width, and carcass strength to the material density, particle size, and conveyor geometry.

FAQ

What is the maximum incline angle for a chevron belt?

The effective maximum incline depends on cleat height and material properties. With standard cleat heights, most bulk materials can be conveyed at angles up to 30 degrees. Finer cohesive materials may allow steeper angles, while large free-flowing lumps may require lower angles or taller cleats. We recommend material testing for critical applications.

How do I choose the right cleat height?

Select cleat height based on maximum material particle size and conveyor incline. As a guideline, cleat height should be approximately 2 to 3 times the largest particle dimension. Our engineering team can recommend specifications based on your material data and conveyor layout.

Can the chevron pattern be customized?

Yes. Cleat height, spacing, and pattern configuration can be adjusted to meet specific application requirements. Custom patterns such as herringbone or multi-V arrangements are also available for specialized material handling needs in industrial applications.

Are chevron belts suitable for wet materials?

Chevron belts can handle damp and wet materials, provided the cover compound is selected for the application. Oil-resistant or abrasion-resistant covers can be specified based on material characteristics. For highly abrasive materials, thicker top covers are recommended.

What is the minimum order quantity and lead time?

The minimum order quantity is 100 meters per specification. Standard sizes typically ship within 15 to 25 working days. Custom cleat configurations or special cover grades may require 25 to 40 working days. Quotations for enterprise customers include confirmed lead times based on current production schedules.
